Screwston mERCH

Overview:

Before launching JU + DESIGN, I created Screwston, an ongoing collection honoring Houston's legendary rap culture through illustration, apparel, collectible products, and storytelling. What began as a series of Prismacolor marker drawings for The All Access Art Show has evolved into a multidisciplinary body of work celebrating the legacy of DJ Screw and the cultural icons who shaped my hometown.

Each release expands the collection through thoughtfully designed objects, transforming local history into pieces that can be worn, displayed, collected, and shared. Carried by some of Houston's leading streetwear retailers, the collection reflects my passion for preserving culture through design.

the contemporary arts MUSEUM of houston

In 2020, the Contemporary Arts Museum of Houston organized an exhibition called "Slowed and Throwed: Records of the City Through Mutated Lenses." The exhibit was a two-part interdisciplinary display that celebrated the legacy of the late Houston icon, DJ Screw. During the event, the museum's gift shop offered JU + DESIGN's products including art prints, greeting cards, and enamel pins of DJ Screw and Pimp C for visitors to purchase. The products were a hit and sold out the first weekend of the exhibit. As a result, the gift shop placed additional orders to meet the high demand.
